Kozhikode, Jan 29 (Agencies): The Indian government is deliberately delaying the process of recovering black money, hidden in Swiss banks, as it would expose cash trails linking "higher ups in Congress," senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh said.

"The Government seems to be hiding behind international treaties and other legal obligations to shield those who hold accounts in Swiss banks," the former BJP president told reporters here.

Government is "deliberately delaying and diverting" the process of recovery of black money because "it is afraid that a quick response will expose many money trails which will establish its links to higher ups in the Congress Party," he alleged.

Singh also said UPA government's "policy paralysis" is pushing the country towards an unprecedented economic crisis with even higher income groups feeling the pinch of inflation on which the Centre is "completely clueless".

On the Central Vigilance Commissioner issue, he demanded the government immediately take steps for removal of P J Thomas under the CVC Act, which says President can act if the officer 'has acquired such financial or other interests as is likely to affect prejudicially his functions as CVC.'

The UPA Government's track record on action against corruption and the corrupt was "questionable and dismal," Singh alleged, adding that "it appointed Thomas as the CVC despite being chargesheeted in Palmoline import scam."

On demand on Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the 2G spectrum scam, he said, BJP would stick to JPC demand and "it is the government's responsibility to ensure Parliament's smooth functioning in budget session."

He also said BJP is ready to face mid-term polls if the situation arises.
