Gwalior: No stringent action has been yet taken against 36 MBBS students of GR Medical College who were suspended after being found guilty of impersonation in the Pre Medical Entrance Exams conducted in 2009.

In all the Government Medical Colleges of Madhya Pradesh, as many as 125 cases of impersonation in exam came to light, out of which 36 were from GR Medical College of Gwalior.

Medical college authorities of Indore, Jabalpur and Bhopal have taken stern action against the students who got admission in their respective institutions after clearing the Pre Medical Entrance Exams by using foul means.

The Medical College authorities of these cities have suspended the guilty students and have lodged an FIR against them. It was found that in place of these 125 medical students, someone else had appeared on their behalf in the entrance exams.

However, Gwalior Medical College is yet to initiate any action against the guilty students of their institution.

The Director of Medical Education Department in his letter to College Dean Dr Shaila Shapre has asked to take immediate action against the students. Surprisingly, the Medical College sidelined the letter and instead asked the basis for action. While, the director in his reply has asked the Dean to probe into the matter and take immediate legal action.

Interestingly, to evade any question the issue the College authorities have told that the letter written to Jhansi Road Police station regarding action against 36 students has been lost. Though College Dean has stated that soon another letter will be sent, but no step has been taken so far. It seems that medical college is no mood to take action against these suspended students.

It need to be mentioned that incidence came to light when the photographs of  125 students in six medical colleges of the state did not match with those pasted on the forms of entrance exam conducted in the year 2009.
