Bareilly: The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council has proposed to promote the working Grade-IV officials as assistant teachers. The Council has even sent this proposal to the state government.

Notably, many Grade-IV officials of junior High schools in between 1984 and 1996 have been promoted to the post of assistant teacher in the council run schools in the Bareilly region. However, they availed this opportunity as dependent of the deceased.

But taking a cue from them, other Grade-IV officials also started demanding for the same. Under the banner of the UP Basic Education Council Association, the employees also held protest in Lucknow and Allahabad.

Secretary of the Council for Basic Education, Dr IP Sharma, has put forth this proposal to the Special Secretary (Education) in the state government.

In his proposal, Dr Sharma has mentioned that the Grade-IV officials with a graduation degree can be promoted as assistant teacher with a condition that they would undergo a training programme within three years of their appointment.
