Speaking at a video conference with District Collectors of eight districts where the second phase of Mass Contact Programme was held, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that the Gram Sabhas can identify the problems of people and they will be able to find out eligible persons in need of welfare projects.
Most people were unaware regarding various projects of state as well as Centre and the government would come out with a handbook with details of welfare schemes to create awareness among the public on the schemes, he said.
A comprehensive package would be brought for the welfare and rehabilitation of AIDS affected persons. Education, treatment will also be included in the package, he said.
Steps will be initiated by government to help persons start self employment, he said adding that, “They would be given help to get loans from banks.”
District collectors of Trivandrum, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kozhikoke, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts participated in the conference.
