The high-speed boats have excellent maneuverability and are capable of patrolling with 'endurance range' of 500 nautical miles, it said.

The boats have 'medium range armaments', and are designed for high-speed interception, close coast patrol, low intensity maritime operation, and search and rescue operations.

Gujarat's Additional Chief Secretary for Home SK Nanda, who was the chief guest for the launch ceremony, said on this occasion that threats to India's interests along its long coastline come in many forms, such as sea-borne terrorist attack, piracy, arms trafficking, etc.

Commander of Coast Guard Region (North West) Inspector General KS Sheoran too was present for the launch ceremony.
