Ahmedabad: Taking a strong action on delay in tabling of the CAG report before the state Assembly, Gujarat Governor Dr Kamla Beniwal has sought an explanation from the state Government on the issue.

According to the sources, Narendra Modi government has sent the CAG report to the Governor which will be tabled in the House on March 30.

Earlier on March 26, the Congress MLAs had met the Governor and submitted a memorandum on the delay.

Governor Kamla Beniwal and Modi government have often been at loggerheads on several issues, including appointment of a Lokayukta by her.

The Opposition Congress alleged that after approaching the Governor on March 26, Beniwal immediately sought an explanation from the state government following which the government sent CAG report to the Governor on March 27.

The state government had received the CAG report in February but it was not sent to the Governor because the report revealed corruption to the tune of Rs 26,500 crore in the state, sources added.

Angry Congress MLAs boycotted the meeting of Business Advisory Committee of the House on Wednesday.
