Ahemdabad: The Gujarat High Court has sought reply from the state government after Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s letter to Prime Minister over Lokayukta appointment was leaked to media.

The High Court has asked the Narendra Modi government to file its reply by September 21 in this connection.

Toughening their stand on the matter, a bench of Justice Akil Kureshi and Justice Sonia Gukani while hearing two petitions said there is nothing wrong in writing a letter to the Prime Minister, but reaching of contents of the letter to media is a grave concern.

During the hearing, the bench said it wanted to know who leaked the letter to the media and what was the intention behind doing so?

Appearing from the complainant’s side, advocate Anand Yagnik said that Modi by "consciously disclosing the letter written to the Prime Minister on the subject matter of the ongoing judicial proceedings and making it public has deliberately committed criminal contempt.”

The court will give verdict after getting replies from all sides.
