Zakia disappointed with SIT report

Zakia Jaffery, wife of late MP Ehsan Jaffri, asked the court whether the report filed by the SIT was complete or not, the court asked for time to study the report.

The Supreme Court had constituted the SIT to investigate into the Gulbarga tragedy. The High Court on Wednesday had lashed out at Chief Minister Narendra Modi for ‘inaction’ during the post-Godhra riots.

The SIT had submitted its final report on Wednesday in the Gulbarga Society violence which broke out after Godhra riots witnessing massive bloodshed and hue and cry among the Muslim community.

Coming down heavily on Narendra Modi, the court also criticized him for not providing any compensation to the riot victims. Making a sharp remark on Modi, the court said, the violence has made a bad impression on the religious groups.

The court also directed the Gujarat government to pay proper compensation to the victims within six months.
The court’s decision expected to come on Thursday will be of utmost importance as if the verdict is not in favour of the Gujarat Chief Minister, the Congress may find a golden opportunity to target Modi on several grounds.
