Gurgaon: Rapid Metro, India’s first fully privately financed Metro system seems to be missing the April 2013 deadline as the Commissioner of Rail Safety is yet give approval on it. Rapid Metro authorities are optimistic that its commercial operations will start by May.

Rapid Metro spokesman said, “The trial run will be conducted in the supervision of the Commissioner of Rail Safety in April. Once the commissioner gives his nod to it, the commercial operations will be started in May.”

Rapid Metro will connect NH-8 to Delhi Metro via Cyber City. Six kilometers of track has been laid under the first phase of Rapid Metro, added the spokesman. Out of six stations, five are ready to start operations, while construction of Gateway Tower Station is yet to be completed, thanks to the delay in acquiring lands, informed the spokesman.
