Ranbir is armed with impeccable acting credentials. His lineage begins with great-grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor and continues through grandfather Raj Kapoor to father Rishi Kapoor and mother Neetu Kapoor. His elder sister, Riddhima Kapoor, is married to Delhi-based businessman Bharat Sahni. The Kapoor khandaan also includes granduncles Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor, uncles Randhir Kapoor and Rajeev Kapoor, aunt Babita, and cousins Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan - all actors with different degrees of success.

Ranbir’s first movie tanked at the box-office, while his second and third film, Bachna Ae Haseeno and Wake up Sid, may have fared average but there wasn’t any doubts that he was headed to the top of the Bollywood . Ranbir proved that he could juggle his lover boy roles with those that demanded intensity with Raajneeti and Rockstar. He was nominated for the Filmfare Best Actor award for Raajneeti 2010, but won it for Rockstar in 2011.

His latest film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has notched up collections of Rs170 crore at last count, on the back of another Rs100-crore blockbuster, Barfi. "The first time I thought I should be an actor was in school. I thought at least this is something for which I won't have to study," he said. Today Ranbir’s star meter is at a point few actors have reached before. As quoted by a daily, Ranbir said, "If I am desirable it is a good thing but it doesn't matter if I lose on that front. For instance, Amitabh Bachchan may not figure in that hottest desired list today, but the kind of respect he gets and the kind of person he is, the kind of work he has done, I want to be like him rather than somebody who is just desired," says Ranbir.

Here’s wishing you are both desirable and respected, Happy Birthday Ranbir from Jagran Post team.
