The biggest release of the year has created history at the box office.  Helmed by Farah Khan, Shah Rukh Khan starrer film has become the 'highest opening weekend ranker' in Bollywood, leaving behind the recent blockbusters 'Bang Bang' and 'Kick'.

The Hindi version of the film has garnered Rs 104.10 crore while the Telegu and Tamil dubs collected Rs 2.92 crore and Rs 1.84 crore respectively.

'Happy New Year' had opened with a grand collection of Rs 44.97 on Friday. The film collected Rs 31.53 on Saturday and Rs 32.36 crore on Sunday, making the total a whopping 108.86 crore.

Gaurav Verma, chief revenue officer, RCE, said: "We are thankful to all our partners, exhibitors and especially YRF (Yash Raj Films) for helping us achieve this significant milestone."

Happy New Year has set another new benchmark and with the ongoing love and support of the audience the film holds a lot of expectation in the coming week.

Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, the film is a story of a six losers, who take part in an international dance competition in their attempt to pull off the biggest diamond heist ever.

The film which shows Shah Rukh Khan in his eight pack avatar also stars Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah and Jackie Shroff.
