Supporters of Modi in Gorakhpur have now coined new slogan - ‘Har Nar Modi, Har Ghar Modi’. A team-led by Dr Anand Agarwal is spreading this slogan via SMSs, WhatsApp and thorough other means. So far, approximately five thousand SMSs have been sent.

Earlier on Sunday, Modi took to microblogging site Twitter and asked his supporters not to use this slogan in future.
“Some enthusiastic supporters are using slogan ‘Har Har Modi’. I respect their enthusiasm but request not to use this slogan in the future,” he said.

The development comes a day after Dwarka Peeth Shankarachayra Swaroopanand Saraswati raised objection to the slogan.

The Shankaracharya, who is considered close to Congress leaders like Digvijay Singh, has complained to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and urged to stop encouraging worshipping of any individual.

The seer said that he was flooded with phone calls from devotees, who are deeply hurt by such slogan-chanting.

The Congress too had strongly opposed the 'Har Har Modi' slogan and senior party leader and Union Minister Salman Khurshid had on Sunday requested the Election Commission of India to take cognizance of it.

Modi's supporters had been chanting the slogan, tweaking the original 'Har Har Mahadev' that reveres Lord Shiva.
