Haridwar: After the unfortunate stampede that killed at least 20 during a religious ceremony near Har-Ki-Pauri ghat recently, the district administration has finally woken up from its slumber.

Following which, the administration which have been neglecting such mishaps for the past 15 years has now decided to go through the recommendations of Radha Krishna Agrawal Commission, which was constituted to avoid such incidents in the state.

Religious ceremonies are frequently held in Haridwar termed land of Gods & Goddesses which attracts devotees from all across the word. And controlling the crowd is a tedious task for the administration. Even a minute’s lapse may result in the major disaster.

In a view to avert such happenings, the then Uttar Pradesh government had formed the Radha Krishna Agrawal Commission in 1996. After which the Commission had even made many recommendations which are still to see the light of the day.

The district administration is of the view that the government has finally decided to take some concrete plan against such accidents and hence have thought of taking the recommendations of the Commission into consideration.

District Magistrate, Sainthil Pandiyan said, “We will study the recommendations made by the Commission and make every possible effort to avert such mishaps.”
