In a letter, Rawat told Bahuguna that in deference to his wishes, efforts are on to put land regularisation issue related to Sitarganj (Bahuguna's constituency) before the next meeting of the state cabinet and solve it for good.

Bahuguna had recently written to Rawat complaining that despite several reminders to him the issue of regularisation of categories IV and 1(b) in Sitarganj was hanging by fire for a year.

The former chief minster had threatened to hold a Janakrosh rally at Sitarganj on February 15 if a permanent solution to the issue was not found within a fortnight.

Assuring Bahuguna that the state government is seized of the matter and keen to solve it in right earnest, Rawat said if the January 31 meeting of the state cabinet had not been cancelled due to unavoidable reasons, the issue would have been solved by now.

However, the matter is sensitive and since it has social, economic and law and order implications, it may take some time to be resolved, Rawat said in the letter.

He also said that he will take into confidence the views of all stakeholders and try to arrive at a legally correct solution which is acceptable to all.

Rawat has also given copies of his letter to AICC General Secretary in charge of party's affairs in Uttarakhand Ambika Soni and co-incharge Sanjay Kapoor.
