Los Angeles: 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2', the final movie of the popular boy wizard, has set a new US box office record after raking in USD 43.5 million dollars from midnight screenings alone. The movie was released across the US on Friday midnight.

Contactmusic.com reports that Warner Bros. studio bosses were also bracing for a big showing this weekend. According to industry insiders' prediction, the new Potter film could also surpass the US opening weekend record of USD158 million.

Since 2001's 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', the Harry Potter movies have earned more than USD 6 billion in global revenue.
