Jind: Haryana government has decided to increase the monthly honorarium of the representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) in the state. Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced the decision on Sunday while addressing a state-level function of PRI representatives.

As per the decision, the monthly honorarium of Sarpanches and Zila Parishad Chairman has been increased by Rs 500.

Honorarium of Panchayat members and Panchayat Samiti members has also been increased by Rs 200 and Rs 250, respectively.

The monthly honorarium of Zila Parishad chairman, vice-chairperson; Panchayat Samiti chairman and vice-chairperson would be increased by Rs 1500.

Addressing the gathering, Hooda said that the government has decided to increase the honorarium as they have full confidence in PRI.

Hooda urged for complete participation of Panchayats in visualizing Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of Gram Swaraj.

 “In each village Rajeev Gandhi Sewa Kendras are being opened with a cost of Rs 10 lakhs,” he informed.
