Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has ordered timely allocation of funds to the poor under the social welfare schemes executed by the government. He instructed the officials to distribute funds under the Indira Gandhi Vivah Shagun Yojna before the weddings so that the beneficiaries are able to utilize the amount in time.

Chief Minister Hooda on Tuesday was presiding over the state level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee officials on prevention of atrocities upon the SC/STs. After reviewing the Indira Gandhi Vivah Shagun Yojna, Hooda said, “Any delay in payment of the funds provided under the policy will undermine its purpose.”

Hooda directed the officials to arrange the funds with the Deputy Commissioner at the district level so that there is timely allocation of money to the concerned .He said, “There is no dearth of funds for the social welfare schemes but its timely usage is necessary.”

According to the scheme, families having an income less than Rs one lakh have been covered under the policy and will be provided donation of Rs 11,000 at the time of the girl’s wedding as a token of ‘shagun’ to the brides.
