The CM has also approved Rs 171.65 crore for construction and development of community centres in the places where these flats are to be built for the convenience of residents, an official spokesperson said here.

These flats would be constructed at various places including Jagadhari, Karnal, Safidon, Hisar and Fatehabad districts, he said.

The government last year had planned to offer interest subsidy on housing loans to help poor section buy homes and boost real estate demand.

Also, Earlier in November last year, Punjab government had decided to set up Punjab State Affordable Housing Development Authority headed by the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
