New Delhi: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Saturday raised the concerns of farmers over the declining procurement rate of Bajra from the state.

Addressing the National Development Council Meeting here on Saturday, Hooda said, “Till 2009, all the foodgrain procurement agencies including the country’s main foodgrain procurement and distribution agency, Food Corporation of India (FCI) used to complete with the buying of the bajra crops at this time. But with the tightening in the specification of the crop procurement by the Central Government the sales have declined.”

The CM urged the government to change the specifications for the procurement of Bajra at the minimum support price, so as to boost its sales.
