Bilaspur:The recent move of the Haryana government has shattered hopes of farmers who have still not fully recovered from the pangs of floods that hit the state last year. What is more shocking is that the state administration is paying a paltry sum of Rs 76 as compensation to the flood affected farmers.

Farmers like Raj Kumar Pritam and Pal Seth Raj from Bamnoli village have accused the state government of cutting a cruel joke with them.

One of the farmers named Karn Singh was given a cheque of paltry Rs 233 to his dismay.On the other hand Surendra the Sarpanch of the village said that cheques worth over Rs 5 lakh have been distributed among the farmers so far.

Shocked by the government’s apathy agitating farmers have said that they would return those cheques to the government soon.

An official of the revenue department named Jagmal Singh said that the government was offering   a compensation of Rs 3500 for the loss ranging between 26 pc to 5o pc ,Rs 4500 for 51-75 pc loss while  Rs 5500 is being given for cent –percent damage to the crops .

He further said that compensation amount should have been hiked to Rs 7,000 in –case of cent -percent loss.
