Chandigarh: Haryana government has offered to provide gunmen to Maruti Suzuki’s staff for security.

State director general of police RS Dalal said that the state government has planned to offer personal security officers (PSOs) to the officials of Maruti, who feel threatened after the violent clash at Manesar plant on July 18.

According to sources, state government has already sent a proposal to the company seeking a list of officials, who want security cover.

The company had declared a lock-out on July 21 after a general manager of the company's human resources department was charred to death while 100 were injured in clashes.

The government has also decided to deploy a 650-strong police battalion, led by an IPS officer, in the Manesar industrial area.

The move has come at a time when the state police has sought sanction for recruiting 11,500 policemen, including 100 DSPs. At present, the state has around 46,000 cops, including officers, against the sanctioned strength of 54,000.
