Kaithal: Haryana Industries Department would, for the first time, construct roads in the areas of small scale industries in the state, said Industries Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala here on Friday.

After laying the foundation stone of road projects to be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore at Udyog Nagar here, he said that the roads to be constructed by Industries Department would be of new designs having 1.5 feet thickness and 18 feet breadth.

These roads would be able to bear the load of heavy vehicles. The design of such roads has been prepared by National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, he said.

There was a long pending need of construction of roads in Udyog Nagar as 450 small industries were functioning there.

The Minister said that total length of such roads would be 10,700 feet and these would be constructed with concrete. Inter locking pavor block having thickness of 80 mm would also be fitted after a gap of 30 meter on these roads so as to ensure spreading of water supply and sewer line.

There are such small scale industries in which exportable articles were also being prepared. These included rice and wood industries which significantly contributed in the development of Kaithal, he added.
