Gurgaon: The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) on Friday accused the Haryana government of protecting interest of industries at the cost labourers.

"I have met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and told him that there is a large scale exploitation of workers by companies in Haryana.

"The labour department of Haryana on behalf of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda protected the interest of industries and don't care two hoots for the labourers," AITUC General Secy Gurudas Dasgupta said at a rally here.

Condemning the July 18 violence at Maruti Suzuki's Manesar plant in which a senior company official was killed and 100 injured, he said there has been resentment among workers for a long time on how they were treated by the management.

"It did not happen suddenly. The exploited workers have been harassed by the management ever since the company was set up. Japan also witness a large number of exploitation workers," said Dasgupta, who is also Communist Party of India Member of Parliament.

He said that in February 2013, AITUC will organise a two-day bandh across the country to protest exploitation of workers by industry.

Union representatives from Suzuki Powertrain India Ltd, Rico Auto, Hero MotoCorp and Mark Exhausts and Omax Auto, Maruti Suzuki India's Gurgaon plant were also present in the gathering of about 400 workers.
