Karnal: Haryana Police on Friday started Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) at Madhuban Court Complex.

Additional Director General of Police, State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), Madhuban, Layak Ram Dabas said on the occasion that Haryana Police is using scientific and modern techniques to prevent as well as detect crime.

He said that for making Haryana Police more modern and technically sound, AFIS has been established at district headquarters, Karnal.

He said that it has been established by the combined efforts of Karnal Police and SCRB, Madhuban.

Now fingerprints of arrested persons would be recorded and it would help in identification and matching fingerprints lifted from the scene of crime.

Dabas said its units were being established in every district headquarters of Haryana. The record of two lakh criminals of the country is stored in the main server, which is connected through internet to all district police offices.
