Hathin: Iftar parties during the auspicious month of Ramzan are turning out to be a major political tool for politicians to showcase their inclination towards the Muslims. To prove their supremacy over each other, politicians are hosting grand Iftar parties. However Muslim heads especially, Maulvis have maintained distance from the political Iftar parties.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had arranged for a political Iftar on August 19 in Hathin of Mewat, which was attended by thousands.

Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) did not take long to cash in on the golden opportunity. INLD has organized an Iftar party on August 27 at Nuh Anaj Mandi. Former Hathin MLA Harsh Kumar would also be hosting an Iftar party on the same day.

The trend to arrange for Iftars so frequently by political parties and individual leaders at their own level seems nothing more than a political gimmick.

A senior leader of regional Congress Commmittee in Mewat is organizing Iftar on Friday. An INLD member too has announced an Iftar party.

Holding a different view, senior Muslim clerics have argued that Iftars should be hosted with the money earned through honesty. They added that the political leaders are not aware of the sanctity of Iftar.
