Chandigarh: The Haryana power distribution utilities are ready to start the special campaign for maintenance of power distribution system in the state from January 1.

The survey of the works to be carried out during the six-month long campaign has been completed by both the power distribution utilities Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and weekly schedules of the works have been submitted by the field offices to management, an official spokesman said in Chandigarh on Thursday.

He said DHBVN and UHBVN have prepared their strategies to complete the special maintenance programme within next six months and are ready to launch it on January 1. Ten percent of the work will be completed during the month of January, next 10 percent in February, 20 percent in March, 20 percent in April, 30 percent in May and rest 10 percent of the work will be completed during June, 2013.

Thus, power distribution system in all the 8,816 villages and wards in urban areas will be maintained by the end of June, 2013. Under the programme, the utilities plan to cover about 90
villages and urban wards during the month of January. The teams of workers brought together exclusively for this programme would work for 25 days a month, covering all the over 8,816 villages and wards in towns in the state in six months.

As many as four teams of workers (each team to comprises nine workers) would work to maintain and strengthen whole of the power distribution system in a village or ward in a town in one day, the spokesman said.

Before entering the village or ward, they would have proper plan of works to be completed in the village. The teams would be supervised by the engineers of the utilities.
