Chandigarh: To strengthen drinking water supply in the state, the Haryana government has sent a proposal of projects costing Rs 268.78 crore to the Centre.

The proposal included Rs 73.78 crore project for expansion of water supply facilities in rural areas of Morni, Bhiwani and villages of Mewat and Rs 195 crore for urban areas of Jhajjar and Hisar, an official spokesman said in Chandigarh on Thursday.

The projects which have been sent to the Central Government under 13th Finance Commission for consideration, included improvement of water supply facilities in hamlets of Morni area of Panchkula district at a cost of Rs 6.02 crore, projects of Rs 37 crore for augmentation of water supply in rural areas of Bhiwani district and of Rs 30.76 crore for providing pipeline in uncovered streets of 258 villages of Mewat.

Projects of Rs 83 crore for augmentation of water supply in Jhajjar town and 17 adjoining villages and of Rs 112 crore for augmentation of water supply in Hisar town have also been included in the proposal, he added.
