Bhopal: Star-studded Haryana will take on Karnataka in the finals of the Hockey India's first National Men's Hockey Championship at the Aishbagh Stadium here on Sunday.

In the second semi-finals last night, Haryana beat Jharkhand 8-7 in sudden death.  Earlier, Karnataka had entered the final by defeating Punjab 2-1.

In the first half, both Haryana and Jharkhand failed to open their accounts.

In the second half, Haryana took a 1-0 lead through a brilliant field goal by Karamjeet Singh in the 40th minute, but it was equalised by Roshan Minz of Jharkhand in the 54th.

After that both teams tried their best to take the lead but the score remained 1-1 after the stipulated as well as in the extra time.

Even in penalty shoot-out the score remained deadlocked at 6-6.

In the sudden death, Sandeep Singh (Haryana) and Ajitesh Rai (Jharkhand) put the ball in the net to take score to 7-7, but Roshan Minz's push was saved by Haryana goalkeeper, Jasbir Singh.

Then, Sher Singh scored off the next for Haryana to set up a summit clash with Karnataka. Haryana won the match 8-7.

On its way to victory, Haryana failed to earn even a single penalty corner while Jharkhand got seven.
