Rohtak (Haryana): Police have recovered the body of a 26-year-old taxi driver, who had gone missing under mysterious circumstances two days ago, from Jawahar Lal Nehru (JLN) Canal near Matanhale village in Jhajjar on Monday.

The deceased, identified as Ravinder of Sanspur village in Bhiwani district, had gone missing under mysterious circumstances two days ago, police said.

The Salhavaas police have started investigation after registering a case of murder against unidentified killers on the complaint of the deceased’s kin, they added.

According to police, Ravinder’s body was spotted by some villagers who informed the police. The body bearing several injury marks on its lower portion was sent to civil hospital for postmortem.

"Ravinder was a taxi-driver and had gone to Dubaldhan village in Jhajjar on a booking made by some youths on Saturday. Thereafter, he did not come back home", said SHO of the Salhavaas police, adding a Tata Sumo vehicle, which was used by Ravinder as taxi, was yet to be recovered.

"We are working on different theories to get clue about the crime. At present, it is very difficult to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder", said the SHO, adding call details of Ravinder’s mobile phone had been sought.
