Chandigarh: The Excise and Taxation Department of Haryana has collected revenue of around Rs 1,707 crore in April, an increase of 8.52 per cent compared to collections in the corresponding period of last fiscal.

The collection of VAT and Central Sales Tax (CST) during April stood at over Rs 1,233.59 crore, Haryana Excise and Taxation Minister Kiran Choudhry said in a statement.

Further, the Excise collection stood at more than Rs 413.75 crore during the month.

Choudhry said the department mopped up Rs 3.18 crore as Entertainment Tax during April, 2012.

The collection of Passenger and Goods Tax was more than Rs 54.56 crore in April.

She also said a sum of about Rs 1.47 crore was collected as Luxury Tax while Rs 44.23 lakh was collected as Local Area Development Tax during April this year.
