Hathway launches new packages in Delhi

New Delhi: Cable services firm Hathway Cable and Datacom on Monday launched four new packages for its consumers in the city to cash in on the government-mandated digitization drive in the country.

"With the aim of making cable TV accessible to a large section of the masses, Hathway on Monday announced four new DAS packages for customers in Delhi. With the packages, Hathway customers will be able to view digital quality television for a full month for less than Rs 1 per channel," Hathway said in a statement.

Hathway will offer a basic pay tier package with 169 channels for only Rs 160 and taxes, while the medium pay tier package will offer 225 TV channels for Rs 220 and taxes.

The premium pay package will offer a bouquet of 251 channels for Rs 275 and taxes per month, while free to air channels will be available for consumers for Rs 100 and taxes.

The packages will be applicable to all consumers commencing from November 1, 2012.

"Hathway is committed towards serving its customers at a very affordable price," Hathway Cable and Datacom MD and CEO K Jayaraman said.

According to the law enacted by Parliament, over 12 million homes with television in the four metros have to move to digital signals by October 31 this year.

The I&B Ministry has launched the task of completing digital switchover of the existing analogue cable TV in the country in a phased and time-bound manner by December 31, 2014.

Hathway and its associate companies provide cable TV services across 140 cities in India and the broadband services in 22 cities. It has about nine million analog cable homes, two million digital cable homes and about 1.6 million broadband homes.
