Movie: Cocktail

Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Diana Penty, Dimple Kapdaia and Boman Irani

Director: Homi Adajania

Jagran rating: Good

Story Line: Bang with the striking opening on this Friday, Homi Adajania’s Cocktail is a true combination of love, passion and longings. This movie is based on a true urban romance. Set in the milieu of London, the story revolves around three friends, a compulsive flirt Gautam (Saif Ali Khan), who plays modern couple role with Veronica (Deepika Padukone) and both are in it only for sex. They don’t want emotional baggage or nuptial bonds. You can use term like ‘Friends with benefits for their relationship. While the girl Meera (Diana Penty) hates Saif initially but slowly she develops feeling for him. Saif’s character in this film is a commitment-phobic until he meets his match and realizes what 'true love' is all about. So, to know which girl drives him crazy and emotionally compel him to get committed, you have to book your ticket on this weekend.

This movie is a trendy triangular love story, can say an old ‘Cocktail’ in a new bottle.

Thumbs Up: The film is shot beautifully. Both the London and Cape Town portions looked picture perfect. All credit goes to cinematographer Anil Mehta. When we talking about the movie cast, Deepika Padukone is the star of the film, but Diana Penty also impresses all in her debut. Saif Ali Khan is as usual nonchalant and he is in his comfort zone in this romantic comedy and charms girls. Pritam’s peppy numbers create lot of buzz among music lovers. Especially the songs ‘Tumhi Ho Bandhu’, ‘Daaru Desi’ and ‘Yaariyan’ has already spelt its magic.

Thumbs Down: As Cocktail resembles an old triangular love story in new form still there is some spice missing in this flick. The trio of Deepika-Saif-Imtiaz who mesmerized the audience in Love Aaj Kal somehow has failed to create that magic again.

It’s a Cocktail of love, passion and emotion which will surely going to touch your right chords.
