The order in this regard was issued by justice K Surendra Mohan while considering a writ petition complaining about hike in bus fares.
According to Basil Attipetty, the petitioner, there were anomalies in fixing the fare stages.

The revised fare per km for ordinary buses was 64 paise, while the minimum charge for ordinary buses had been raised to Rs 7 from Rs 6.
At a minimum charge of Rs seven, passengers were entitled to travel at least five km, petitioner stated. But this was not possible due to anomaly in fare stage which had not been rectified, he said.

The hike was infringement of Article 14 of the constitution, he stated.
