Greater Noida:The Allahabad High Court deferred the hearing of land acquisition case of farmers of Greater Noida and asked the UP government and Noida Authority to file their counter-affidavits on hundreds of petitions filed by Gautam Buddh Nagar district farmers, who have challenged acquisition of more than 3,000 hectares of land for development of Greater Noida and Noida Extension areas.

The deferment has come as a dampener to investors, builders’ fraternity as well as the Greater Noida Authority since they have pumped billions of rupees in the land project.

Natives of 400 villages, including Patwari and 11 villages of Noida Extension have filed petitions in the Allahabad High Court in this connection. The court has fixed September 12 as the next date of hearing in the matter.

The court’s verdict has also led to stalling of about one and half dozen ongoing projects in the Greater Noida area.

The High Court had cancelled the acquisition of 589 hectares of land in Patwari on July 19 and prior to this land acquisition at Saberi village was put on hold by the Supreme Court.

It is noteworthy that almost one lakh flats have been booked by people in Noida Extension alone but due to stalling of these projects crores of rupees pumped in by them have got stuck.

Not only this, it has also led to deferment of monthly installment of builders to the Authority which also stands in crores.
