Jabalpur: The Madhya Pradesh High Court issued notices to the Centre and the state government on Wednesday on the issue of illegal cellular phone towers being installed in various cities of the state and its harmful effects on human health because of radiation emanating from them.

The notices were issued by a division bench of Chief Justice S A Bobade and Justice Sanjay Yadav following a PIL filed by the Nagrik Upbhokta Margdarshak Manch.

The court directed the respondents to reply to the notices within four weeks. The PIL alleged that mobile towers were illegally installed in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior and other cities of the state near schools, hospitals and in dense populated localities.

The court has issued notices to concerned authorities of the Centre and state in this regard.
