New Delhi: In order to ensure that the Uttar Pradesh government does not provide half-baked information in its response to the RTI application filed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad has forced the entire National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) machinery to be on its toes.

As per a circular issued by a senior official of NRHM (Rahul has filed an RTI with the UP branch of the department seeking details about the utilization of funds in the state), the officials have surprisingly been asked to prepare answers for questions which have not even been asked in the RTI plea.

The officials have been asked to furnish the facts and details about all the issues related to NRHM on the basis of reports being published in media. The details would then be provided to Rahul Gandhi.

The sources in government say that departments do try to conceal or delay the procedure in providing information while replying an RTI application.

The aforesaid circular is being seen as an attempt by the Union health Ministry to provide all the relevant information to Rahul Gandhi so that he could evaluate the information provided by the state government.

Last month, Rahul Gandhi along with UP Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi had filed an RTI with the UP branch of NRHM.

Joshi informed on Tuesday that the department has not yet provided any information in response to their RTI plea.
