New Delhi: Unfazed by the vagaries of weather, people in large numbers continue to throng the Ramlila Ground to support Gandhian Anna Hazare in his crusade against corruption.

However, on the flip side, several volunteers who turned up to extend support have been reported sick and nine suffered heart attack.

Till date more than 11,000 volunteers have been rushed to medical camps for treatment.

On Thursday, 4,000 people were reported sick and hitherto more than one thousand people have been referred to the LNGP Hospital. Out of which, 125 people in wake of their poor health were rushed to the hospital in ambulance.

Coordinator of the medical camp, Dr Sanjeev Chibbar said, “We have the records of the patients from August 20 and up till now more than 11,000 patients have been provided treatment.” People here are mainly suffering due to lack of water, glucose, diarrhea, fever, blood pressure and diabetics, he added. He informed that more than 100 doctors are working in OPD of the LNGP Hospital.

Chibbar also cited the mosquitoes in the ground as one of the main reasons of poor health of the protesters. Dr Chibbar confirmed that nine protestors suffered heart attack in Ramlila Ground.
