Lucknow: Claiming that women and girls in the state were not safe during the previous BSP regime, the Samajwadi Party said Akhilesh Yadav government was paying attention to their safety and welfare and had launched various schemes in this regard also.
"Girls faced humiliation during the BSP rule but Akhilesh Yadav has issued clear directives to prepare a district wise list of miscreants to ensure safety of women" SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said.
Stressing upon the fact that sound law and order would be the priority of his government, Chaudhary said that steps were being taken in this direction and it would be considered proper only when common people feel it that way.
Referring to the steps initiated by the SP government for women and girls, he mentioned about the ambitious Woman Power helpline ‘1090’ under which those caught would find it difficult to get character verification, passport and driving license.
On this occasion, Chaudhary also mentioned about other schemes launched by the state government like Kanya Vidya Dhan and extending economic assistance to girls belonging to minority communities.
Chaudhary said that SP has taken up the cause of Dalit women and those belonging to the backward castes and minorities under the women reservation bill by demanding their quota.
