The Chief Minister led a march to Raj Bhawan on a wheel chair due to injury to his leg. A memorandum addressed to President Pranab Mukherjee was also submitted to Governor KK Paul demanding that the politics of "vendetta" by the Centre must stop.

Accompanied by party leaders, including PCC chief Kishore Upadhyay and ministerial colleagues, Rawat later told reporters that the BJP will never succeed in its design to tarnish the image of party leaders.

Protest demonstrations were also held in different parts of the state including Nainital where party workers gathered at the bus stand to burn the effigy of Modi government and raised slogans against it.
