New Delhi: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) proposed three phase 'Heritage Corridor', which was inaugurated on Tuesday by new DMRC chief Mangu Singh, will connect Central Secretariat Metro station to Kashmere Gate. The proposed 9.4 km Metro underground line will link important heritage sites – Jama Masjid, Sunehri Masjid, Delhi Gate, Kashmere Gate, Red Fort, Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, Jantar Mantar, Khooni Darwaaza and Ferozeshah Kotla.

The project plans to incorporate seven stations.

According to DMRC, ‘Heritage Corridor’ will be ready by the end of 2014 and it would take only 20 minutes to complete 9.4 km providing a big relief to the commuters.

TA tunnel boring machine was lowered near Chemlsford Club on Tuesday in the presence of the DMRC chief.

Meanwhile, in an effort to prevent people committing suicides on Metro tracks, the DMRC had also announced plans to install screen doors at platforms as a precautionary measure.
