Fazilka (Punjab): The Border Security Force on Monday seized 3 kilograms of heroin worth Rs 15 crore near the Pakistan border.

The increasing fog conditions with the approaching winters have raised the security concerns on the international borders. Utilizing the blinding foggy conditions, the drug peddlers have come back in action and are smuggling drugs from the other side of the border.

On orders of DIG Vimal Satyarthi, 51 battalion BSF headquarters in Rampura village, DIG Deepak Kandpal said, “The forces are being extra vigilant at the borders during fog.”

During the search programme, BSF Jawans recovered about 3 kilograms of heroin in four small packets and one big bag under in a field in Gatti Yaru village near the line of control.

Kandpal added, “The security forces have observed such drug trafficking activities since years and have now equipped themselves to tackle them.”
