Lucknow: Taking a tough stand against the state government for selling 21 sugar mills at a very low rate, a Lucknow bench of High Court issued notice to the private companies which bought the mills as well as ordered to furnish the details within four weeks.

The next hearing in this regard will be held on July 19. In the petition filed, it has been alleged that the state government has sold 21 sugar mills at a low price to their favourite companies resulting in the multi-crore revenue loss.

Flaunting the rules, the state government has sold four sugar mills on July 2, 2010, six sugar mills on September 17, 2010 and eleven mills on January 4, 2011 to private companies.

The private companies which bought the mills were Wave Industries Ltd., Indian Potash Ltd., Giraso Company Pvt. LTD, Namrata Marketing Pvt. Ltd., SR Buildcon Pvt Ltd, Nilgiris Food Product Ltd. and Trikal Food and Agro Product Ltd.

The petition has challenged the orders of the state government for selling 21 sugar mills to private hands. It has also been urged to reject the orders of the state government relating to the selling of sugar mills and to set up an independent agency to probe the huge financial irregularities.
