Chandigarh: High humid conditions in Punjab and Haryana caused discomfort to the people in the region on Friday.

The humidity levels ranged between 70 to 90 percent in the region on Friday, Met office said.

The maximum temperature in most parts of Punjab and Haryana was up to two degrees celsius above normal. Hisar in Haryana recorded a high of 39.6 degrees celsius, two notches above normal, while Karnal had a high of 36 degrees celsius, two notches above normal.

The maximum temperature at Ambala was 35.7 degrees celsius, one notch above normal.

Chandigarh recorded 34.2 degrees celsius, one notch below normal.

However, Amritsar, which received 0.6 mm of rainfall, recorded the maximum five notches below normal. The holy city registered 30.2 degrees celsius.

The Met office has forecast moderate to heavy rains or thundershowers at many places in the region during the next 24 hours.
