New Delhi: If you have a normal number plate on your car, replace it now with a High Security Number Plate (HSRP). The Transport Department has decided to take stern action against the car owners who have not affixed HSRP on their vehicles purchased after April 30, 2012.

According to a top official, notice will be sent to the vehicle owners before cancelling their registration numbers. Last year, the Supreme Court had directed the state governments that HSRP be installed in all the commercial and private vehicles.

Both the Transport Corporation and Traffic Police have launched special drive in the national capital but found it difficult to distinguish the vehicles purchased after or before May.

Later, the Transport Department has decided to issue notices to the vehicle owners without going through the records. A deadline of 15 days has been given to car owners to get the HSRP affixed on their vehicles.
