For this, Hike has recently acquired US-based voice-calling app company Zip Phone which was started by Anuj Jain in US.

Hike Messenger’s voice-calling feature will be optimised for 2G networks in India in few days. The app will also ensure use of minimum bandwidth for low data costs.

According to sources, the Hike voice-calling add-on will require Internet access and work even when in weak internet connectivity.

Home-grown chat application Hike, since its launch in December 2012, has garnered good response from its users because of unmatched strikers and themes.

It is still unclear that whether this voice-calling feature in the app will be paid or not.
