The Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh also approved splitting of 70 MW Harsar hydroelectric project in three stages having capacities of 30 MW, 22 MW & 18 MW, respectively, subject to fulfillment of laid down conditions and fragmentation of 45 MW Bharmaur HEP for implementation in two separate stages of 22.5 MW each.
The cabinet also approved reduction in VAT from 4 percent to 2 percent on sales of goods through CSD canteens to military/ex-military personnel in the state.
It approved hike in honorarium of Anganwari Workers of Mini Anganwari Centers in the state from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 with effect from July 4, 2013.
The cabinet also approved the restoration of upper age limit for appearing in the Himachal Pradesh Administrative and Police services examination to 42 years in respect of in-service government employees and 35 years for other direct candidates.
The cabinet has also decided to bring 52 revenue villages with combined area of 2,942 hectares in peripheral areas of Hamirpur town under Hamirpur planning area for planned development as per the provision of HP Town and Country Planning Act, 1977.
In another significant decision, the cabinet gave its nod for imposing ban on felling of trees of species - Popalar, Eucalyptus, Albazzia, Bahuna, Willow and Mulberry - grown on private land.
