The Monsoon Session of the Assembly started on August 6 and was adjourned by Speaker BBL Butail on Tuesday while eleven more sittings of the House were left.
BJP, which did not participate in the proceedings during the first four days, agreed to let the House run after a consensus was reached at an all-party meeting convened by the Speaker.
However, the truce did not last and BJP members again started disrupting the House demanding resignation of the Chief Minister over the alleged money laundering case.
On Wednesday also, BJP members had held a protest and later staged a walkout over the case and adoption of a resolution seeking to withdraw the Himachal Pradesh Lokayukta Bill of 2012 passed by the previous BJP government.
Immediately after replying to a calling attention motion moved by Rajiv Bindal of BJP today, the Chief Minister urged the Speaker to adjourn the House sine die "as there was no business to transact".
The Chief Minister said that since "the stalemate between the government and the opposition is on and the government has no further business, I request the Speaker to adjourn the House sine die".
"It was a sheer wastage of public money and frequent disruptions is a height of indecency," he said.
On the request of the Speaker to allow the House to continue as a number of important bills were pending, he said, "We will again call the House in the next two months."
As the opposition BJP members urged the Speaker not to adjourn the House and conduct the business, the Chief Minister said it was majority view of the House and he can even go for voting.
When the ruling party members remained adamant on the adjournment, the Speaker said he will give his ruling on Wednesday after studying the issue.
However, the ruling party members pressed for the decision after lunch break.
As soon as the House assembled after the break, the Speaker told that he has received a notice from Parliamentary Affair Minister for adjourning the Assembly sine die and said that he was adjourning the House sine die under Rule 20.
