Shimla: After Hamirpur lad Vijay Kumar won a silver medal in London Olympics, Himachal Pradesh government on Wednesday announced to set up a world-class shooting range in his hometown to provide training facilities to the young marksmen.
   
"Hamirpur jawan Vijay Kumar has set a new record by winning silver medal in ongoing London Olympics in shooting. Shooting range would provide the much needed boost to the sport," Dhumal said.
 
The Chief Minister said the state government had announced a cash reward of Rs one crore to Vijay besides conferring "Himachal Gourav" award to him.
     
The Army's marksman gave India its first silver in London Olympics after fighting a nerve-wracking battle with five other top marksmen in the men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event.
     
Dhumal said that indoor stadium was also being constructed at Hamirpur at a cost of Rs 664 lakhs.
