Shimla: The opposition Congress in Himachal Pradesh on Monday boycotted the proceedings of the second day of the ongoing budget session of the state legislature by demanding the removal of state Health Minister Rajeev Bindal over corruption charges. Soon after the opposition created pandemonium during the Question Hour, the minister went up to the table of Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and handed over his resignation letter to him. However, the Chief Minister refused to accept his resignation.

The Congress members trooped into the well of the House and shouted slogans.

The leader of the opposition Vidya Stokes was on her feet immediately after the House assembled and wanted to know about the fate of the adjournment motion regarding corruption charges leveled against the minister.

Speaker Tulsi Ram said the adjournment motion could not be accepted under the rules as it was not an immediate urgent matter and read out some rulings to buttress his contention.

The Chief Minister later said that there is nothing new in this matter and assured that if there is anything new, the administration will look into it properly.
