No direct recruitment for HP headmasters

Shimla: Giving thumbs up to the long pending demand of Government Teachers Association (GTA), the Himachal Pradesh government has announced to scrap the process for direct recruitment of Headmasters. Instead, now the headmasters will be appointed through a promotion channel.

During a meeting with GTA, HP Education Minister Ishwar Dass Dhiman gave in-principle nod to the long standing demands of the teachers.

The Education Minister also gave approval to provide 20 days casual leave to the female teachers, annulling the notification number 1/2004, dated 17 June, 2004 related to salary, making available medical allowance and travelling allowance adequately to the teachers and regularization of all promotions.

The GTA had presented 25-point charter before the Education Minister. The association had also sought to cancel the 25 percent direct recruitment, but the department did not amend the direct recruitment for 212 posts.

GTA president PC Kapoor said, “During the meeting, some of our long pending demands were approved by the Education Minister.”
